Homogeneous HA/HC Polysaccharides

Hyaluronan (HA) and chondroitin (CH) are two important Glycosaminoglycans that widely exist on the cell surface and in the extracellular matrix. They are able to interact with cytokines, cell adhesion molecules, selectins and enzymes to regulate intracellular signaling pathways [1]. Also, they have various applications in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Current commercially available HA/CH is either isolated from rooster combs or produced by microbial fermentation.[2][2]

 

Advantages

  • Higher identification ability of conventional immobilized metal affinity chromatography: 3 times of Fe3+-IMAC, 1.3 times of TiO2
  • Enrichment specificity up to 95%[3]
  • Better selectivity and enrichment efficiency than Zr-IMAC, ZrO2, etc. [4][5]

Modular enzymatic synthesis strategy of homogeneous glycosaminoglycans 2. Synthesis of complex oligosaccharides by enzymatic method and its applications 3.
